Prelude to an updated post: Thanks to excellent feedback from Jean, one of my subscribers, I made edits and re-recorded the audio for this post. In her comments, Jean said that the original sounded too much like an ad, and she’d understood that what I say in my podcast isn’t based on advertising revenue. She’s right! So I made changes based on her critique, which she offered so kindly, and hope this updated version works better. Thank you, Jean!
I have an occasional series that I call GHR Recommends, which falls under the Gale Hill Radio podcast. The idea is to use my platform to highlight something that’s exceptional in some way, and no money or products are ever exchanged. I just recommend what I think may be worth your while.
Similar to my other shows, these episodes cover a lot of different subjects that are subtly connected by the same underlying threads. In this series, for example, I talk about craftsmanship, goodness and/or higher purpose.
The first recommendation was for my favorite granola; this one is about clothing — specifically the Martinique® Banana Leaf sleepwear line produced by Sant and Abel in partnership with CW Stockwell. The third in the series will be about another type of clothing, and then after that, I think I’ll switch to jazz. So many ideas and only so much time!
Anyway, back to the topic at hand. I have a summer robe from the Banana Leaf line. It’s colorful, designed beautifully and made of high-quality cotton that feels as good as it looks. Before I stored it away for Northeast Ohio’s colder months, I paused to really appreciate the robe’s fine fabric and details. Then I did some research into Sant and Abel + CW Stockwell, the name on the label, and that’s when I felt inspired to highlight this sleepwear line as my second GHR Recommends episode. The audio is embedded below.
And please check out the accompanying photo. After temporarily retrieving my robe from its winter home in the closet, I asked my husband to take a picture of me wearing it. It was a beautiful fall day, and he suggested we do the shoot up the hill on our property, so we did.
By the way, since we were on a photography roll, I also asked him to take a shot of Witzi’s granola to go with the first episode in the GHR Recommends series. I recently updated that Substack post with his Witzi’s photo.
